It’s week two of the Spring ’23 One Room Challenge and I’m sharing the first bit of progress we’ve had on this room. Last year I skim coated the super textured walls to a smooth texture and it took so long that I literally abandoned this room after. The walls were the most intense version of orange peel/shakedown texture I’ve seen so it’s taken quite a few layers of skim coating to get the walls smooth. Everything is smoothed out and sanded, so we primed the walls, and then hung the mirror. We took out the medicine cabinet and are filled in the hole before we hung this pretty brass mirror. I painted the door, added new hardware, the new light fixture is in, and we removed the wall cabinet above the toilet, and I can see the space coming together already. It’s made such a difference.

I also got a start painting the wall tile in the bathroom and it looks so much brighter now. I used this Rust-Oleum Home Interior Floor Coating Kit in Matte Ultra White that I also used on our tile floors in the living room and it turned out great. Say bye to the beige beige beige everywhere!

Next we’ll start to tackle the shelf replacement next week with some open shelves that I’m SO excited about. Stay tuned!
