One Room Challenge: Week Four | Refinish a Shower on a Budget
This week we’re saying bye bye to the beige builder grade tile that surrounds every inch of this bathroom. To keep things simple and brighten the space up I opted for a simple white tub/tile paint. There aren’t all that many tub paints so the options are essentially white or beige.
Total cost to paint the shower tile? $100! I used Homex Tough as Tile paint from Amazon. It took me two of them to finish this entire shower tile area. I ended up getting three for random touchups that I might need to do as well! Fair warning: this paint smells absolutely terrible. I had to wear a filtered mask and gloves while painting with this one. It’s also VERY tacky. Like if you bump a piece of paint with anything it will become like glue. My plastic gloves were stuck to each other and became like webbed hands by the end of painting the tub, haha! This one was an experience to say the least.
Here’s a glimpse of the paint after the first coat. You don’t want to use the shower for a few days after you paint to so it can be a bit complicated if you only have one bathroom like us. I had a few bumpy pieces on the tile with lint from my paint brush and learned that I was able to sand it down and repaint over it and it would go away. Same for drips if you try this yourself!
And once again you’re getting a sneak peek at the wall paint color reveal for next week because I wanted to finish the walls around the tub before painting it. I can’t just do one project at a time, hah! Now back to finishing painting the wall for me… Stay tuned for the final paint reveal next week!
