DIY Wall Mural
I’ve been trying to find a way to add a pop of color to my bright white bedroom, so I thought a fun quarantine project would be to paint a mural! I’d been wanting to add an arch above the sideboard in my bedroom, so I figured why not do that, and a few more shapes to make a unique fun wall. Here’s how I did it…
Brainstorm A Color Palette
The colors you use are the most important part! I wanted to go for a peachy sunset look, so I went with a few varying shades of peach. Get paint chips and tape them to the wall to get a better idea of how they’ll work together in the space.
A Fresh Coat Of White Paint
First off I cleared the space, filled in all of the holes in the wall, and gave it a fresh coat of white paint for the perfectly white canvas. I used Whisper from Dunn Edwards for a bright white background.
Tape Off The Shapes
I used painters tape to mark up the ideas of where I wanted to paint. It made it super easy to move around until we got the perfect shape!
Stencil In A Border
Once I was all set on where I wanted the shapes, I traced the tape and pulled it off to have a guiding line for painting.
Paint The Edges
Use a small brush (I used a lil ol’ paining brush) to paint the edges, then start filling them in with a bigger roller. I freehanded filling in the lines because I wanted a more natural flow rather than a measured symmetrical line. If you want something straighter use frog tape! This goes by super fast, and you’ll have a unique wall mural before you know it!
