Neutral Living Room Refresh
I’ve been in the mood for a living room refresh all year–something more neutral, elevated, and subtle. I knew I wanted a few essentials: a cozy shag rug, lots of natural elements, and a very faded color palette. It took me a while to figure out the direction I wanted to go with. I’m so glad I took it slow and waited for the right pieces to come together. I’m calling this the “I turn 30 next year makeover” because I’m (somewhat) leaving my super saturated color palette behind, and going for something more subdued. Though it’s still colorful, obviously.
The biggest change was going from a super colorful rainbow rug to one that is completely neutral. I went with this rug, and it’s SO soft and cozy. I added these cactus silk pillows in a super neutral faded color palette. Aren’t they so dreamy? I literally couldn’t stop staring at them when they came in.
I knew I wanted lots of natural elements–pampas grass, rattan details– and I found this beautiful pendant lamp on Etsy and had to get it for the space. It really brings this corner together.
I’ve been trying to make the bookshelf more neutral with lots of simple vases and a few pops of yellow and pink. I have so many vases these shelves always end up overflowing with ceramics, and I have no complaints about that!
I’m so happy with how the living room turned out. Since we’ve been staying home all year I’ve been spending so much time there, and it feels like a zen sanctuary now.
