<p class="">If you follow me on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/erikacarlock/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Instagram</a> you&#8217;ll know I recently came back from my Mexico City trip, and made a big emphasis on visiting the houses designed by Mexico City architect Luis Barragán. Before I get to recapping the whole trip I wanted to share a peek inside of the architectural tours I did because they were so inspiring. I love his use of light, color and minimalism. Safe to say I have lots of ideas for the desert house yard now!</p>

<p class="">Last time Joe and I went to Mexico City we visited his home Casa Estudio Luis Barragán and his last work Casa Gilardi. This time we had to visit the one I&#8217;d been dying to do before&#8211;Cuadra San Cristobal. And since we loved it so much we decided to revisit Casa Gilardi.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-13.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28349" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-13.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-13.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-13.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p class="">We booked the Cuadra San Cristobal tour with <a href="https://www.thetravelingbeetle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Traveling Beetle</a> which was such a cool way to experience his architecture. They pick you up from your hotel in a vintage VW Beetle or bus, and then take you around a bunch of Barragán architecture. Our first stop was <strong><a href="https://www.caminoreal.com/en/caminoreal/camino-real-polanco-mexico" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Camino Real Polanco</a></strong> which wasn&#8217;t technically a Barragán work, but was designed by another similar Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta with significant input from Barragán in 1968. This front wall is incredible! There was also the craziest fountain called Fountain of Eternal Movement in the entry designed by Japanese-American landscape architect Isamu Noguchi. The fountain made me feel a lot of things, and kind of blew my mind. Definitely would recommend checking it out. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" data-id="28351" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-8.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28351" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-8.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-8.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-8.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p class="">Then we went to <strong>Torres de Satélite</strong> which was a cool piece of art in the middle of the freeway. They are a group of sculptures built in 1958 as an entrance toward the neighborhood developed outside of the city. Our guide told us it was painted in shades of ochre back in the 60&#8217;s and I found a photo <a href="https://www.metalocus.es/sites/default/files/styles/mopis_news_carousel_item_desktop/public/metalocus_luis-barragan_vitra-design-museum_01.jpg?itok=POMQj9rx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>. Wish it was still those colors, they look amazing. They were very cool to see how they change depending on where you are standing. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">

</figure>

<p class="">We drove through a few neighborhoods that Barragán developed and then made our way to <strong><em>Fuente de los Amantes</em></strong>. It was such a cool fountain and the water disappears onto the rocks below it. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-23.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28600" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-23.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-23.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Visiting-Luis-Barragan-Architecture-23.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p class="">When we made it to <strong>Cuadra San Cristobal </strong>just down the road I was basically in awe the whole time. It is such a magical place! This one was on my bucket list for a while and I&#8217;ve seen a million photos, but seeing it in person was even better. I couldn&#8217;t stop staring at every angle and details. He had such a way with angles and light. Safe to say I was ready to move in, haha! It&#8217;s in the rancho neighborhood where horses are trained and the property has stables and the prettiest white horses live on the property. </p>

<p>For my very first international trip in over almost two years we headed south of the border to a hidden gem just a few hours past California &#8212; Valle De Guadalupe. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and mountains, this sprawling wine country is also home to culinary hot spots. If you&#8217;re looking for a wine tasting weekend paired with fresh local food and views to boot, look no further. We drank yummy carajillo&#8217;s all week, and ate the best pork belly. Everything there was incredible, from modern architecture to incredible wines, views and food. </p>

<p>You&#8217;ll only need a few days in the Valle to see it all, but I was lucky enough to do almost a full week of wine tasting and dining amongst the views of vineyards. I was pleasantly surprised by how much magical it was, and it was so lovely to relax and reconnect with nature. Highly recommend it for a quick weekend trip with friends, or as a couples trip. I can&#8217;t wait to go back!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1067" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-09.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27441" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-09.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-09.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-09.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-11.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - Casas VV" class="wp-image-27445" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-11.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-11.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-11.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Getting There</strong></h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re in Southern California it&#8217;s a quick drive from San Diego. There isn&#8217;t really a flying-only option as the closest airport is in Tijuana, and you would still have to rent a car and drive down. Be sure the check the border time website for updates on the wait time getting back into the country, but getting there is a breeze. The Valle De Guadalupe is nestled right in the hillside about 20 minutes east of the ocean and Ensenada. It only took a little over an hour to get there from the border, so it&#8217;s a quick trip. We felt completely safe, and had no issues driving through Mexico. Definitely read up on traffic rules before driving there, pack your passport, and get Mexican car insurance online as well to make sure you&#8217;re covered. If you&#8217;re driving from the U.S. you&#8217;ll want to check on your phone plan to setup an international plan, and be sure to turn on data roaming once you cross the border so that you can map your way around. As for the <meta charset="utf-8">Valle De Guadalupe just be prepared that much of the town is on some bumpy dirt country roads (similar to Joshua Tree). We had no issues other than that our car was due for a wash when we got home. <meta charset="utf-8"></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where To Wine Taste</strong></h3>

<p>Winery hopping is a must in <meta charset="utf-8">Valle De Guadalupe. There are so many wineries you&#8217;ll barely even get to graze the surface, but I picked out a few gems for you to knock off your list. Be sure to book tastings in advance, as most places are gated and have a security guard that checks for your name on the list. </p>

<p><a href="https://venacavawine.com/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Vena Cava</strong></a>: A winery that hosts tastings inside of old upside-down boats. A cute cave-like ambiance, with different tasting options including a natural wine tasting. I&#8217;m a big fan of natural wine, and Vena Cava is one of the local natural wineries in Valle De Guadalupe.</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://fincalacarrodilla.mx/en/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Finca La Carrodilla</a></strong>: Definitely a favorite! They had amazing views, and the wine was delish. The cheese board is a must!</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.adobeguadalupe.com/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Adobe Guadalupe</a></strong>: Adobe has a whole compound on the property &#8212; an inn, wine tastings, a garden and even a food truck. They also have tasting tours if that&#8217;s of interest. </p>

<p><strong><a href="http://closdetrescantos.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Clos de Tres Cantos</a></strong>: Tucked in between beautiful stones and concrete, this place looks like it&#8217;s from the medieval ages. </p>

<p><meta charset="utf-8"><meta charset="utf-8"><strong><a href="https://grupoencuentro.com.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Encuentro Guadalupe</a></strong>: A tasting room nestled atop sprawling vineyards with views of the hillsides and farms. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/lomitamx/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lomita</a></strong>: A pretty tasting room overlooking vineyards, across from Lunario. </p>

<p><strong><a href="http://bruma.mx/vinicola_en.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bruma Wine Garden</a></strong>: Another dreamy spot for tastings next to Fauna. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ACS_4045.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27439" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ACS_4045.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ACS_4045.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ACS_4045.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where To Eat + Drink</strong></h3>

<p>You don’t need to fly to Mexico City to get your Mexico foodie fix. There is a major fine dining scene in <meta charset="utf-8">Valle de Guadalupe, and over 50 wineries! Fair warning: you need reservations for most restaurants. Some can even fill up weeks in advance, so if something is high on your list be sure to book. <meta charset="utf-8">Animalón can be booked 3 weeks in advance. Also, most places in the Valle are gated with a security guard, and you tend to need a reservation with your name on the list at most places to get inside. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/dascortezoficial/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Das Cortez Coffee Shop</a></strong>: A cute coffee shop in a barrel of the vineyard. Perfect for your morning coffee fix. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://primitivorestaurante.com/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Primitivo Restaurante</a></strong>: Tucked under a gorgeous ancient 300-year-old oak tree, this restaurant focuses on using the whole animal. You choose your animal for the night from the options, and then they give you multiple courses of different parts of the animal cooked right there on the fire outdoors. We chose res, and had some of the tastiest beef dishes. The music, the ambiance, and the food were all perfection. Side note: this one is tricky to find, and you could miss it. We almost did! Turn off the highway at the large gate, and then turn left at the gate down the dirt road until you get to a string fence with a security guard, then you drive up a long dirt road to the parking lot. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.restaurantelunario.com/menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lunario</a></strong>: Across the street from Lomita winery, this spot is tucked away behind a lit, magical, wandering pathway and stone steps nestled between Lomita&#8217;s vines. Inside of a glass greenhouse-style building the you can see the sky inside, this prix fixe restaurant served up experimental dishes that were top-notch. They even had lemongrass water that I can stop thinking about. A must if you&#8217;re celebrating anything on your trip. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/faunarestaurante/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fauna Restaurante</a></strong>: A dreamy restaurant perched on top of a hill with a mile-long communal table strewn across the entire restaurant. Everything was fresh as can be. We had the pork belly, broccoli, aguachille, and two of the best desserts I&#8217;ve had. I drank the carajillo which was my favorite one I had all week. We loved watching bartender do tricks and pour drinks from a few feet higher than the glass. </p>

<p><a href="http://fincaltozano.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Finca Altozano</strong>:</a> For more ranch-style home cooking, Finca Altozano is the place to go. We ended up eating here multiple times and loved this spot. It&#8217;s inside of a larger space with multiple shops and wine tastings, and you can enjoy the endless views or even see their farm animals on the way out. The cheese tacos are to die for, and the carajillo (a Mexican coffee cocktail) is a must. They have 5 dogs wandering around the property at all times which was so cute.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.animalonbaja.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Animalón</a></strong>: By the same chef from Finca, this is another popular spot in the Valle. I didn&#8217;t make a reservation in time to try it, but it&#8217;s definitely on my list for my next trip. Be sure to book in advance if you want to try it. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/mixtura-valle-de-guadalupe" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mixtura</a></strong>: Okay okay I know you came to wine taste but these cocktails are incredible. This woman-led restaurant has great food, and it&#8217;s on the lower portion of the hillside. Perfect for your way in or out of the Valle. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://troikavalle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Troika</a></strong>: For more low-key food that is still delicious. It&#8217;s right outside of Vena Cava winery with stunning views of the hillside, and a pond with ducks.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/ellocalvalle/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">El Local by Slowburger</a></strong>: More casual, low-key food options. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1067" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-08.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27442" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-08.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-08.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-08.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where To Stay</strong></h3>

<p>Stunning architecture is endless in the Valle. There are so many modern builds and interesting boutique hotels that it was hard to choose where to stay. Here are a few options:</p>

<p><a href="https://casasvv.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Casas VV</strong></a>: A colorful, modern boutique hotel with a pool. We stayed in room 1, but next time I would opt for the houses on the property to have a bit more space and a fridge/kitchen. You can book on AirBnb or their website. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://casaurbinawineresort-hotel.business.site/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Casa Urbina Wine Resort</a></strong>: A cute modern resort with view of the vineyards. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.ojoazulresort.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ojo Azul</a></strong>: Tucked into the vineyards, this resort has views of the vineyards and a pool. </p>

<p><a href="http://www.bruma.mx/casa8_en.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Casa 8</strong></a>: Inside of the compound with Fauna and Bruma this boutique hotel has 8 rooms that look super cute. </p>

<p><a href="https://oeno.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Oeno Wine Lodge</strong>:</a> Cute individual cottages tucked inside the vineyards. There&#8217;s no pool, but the views look amazing. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://grupoencuentro.com.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Encuentro Guadalupe</a></strong>: A luxe splurge-stay at the top of the hills. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/santulanbaja/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Santulan</a></strong>: A modern boutique hotel with a focus on sustainability. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-12.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27444" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-12.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-12.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-12.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day 1:</strong></h3>

<p>Our first day in <meta charset="utf-8">Valle de Guadalupe was Saturday, so we headed up in the morning for afternoon wine tasting. The wine tastings are inside of a bunch of upside-down boats, and feels like a wine cave. We stopped at <a href="https://venacavawine.com/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vena Cava</a> on the way up the mountain for some of the tastiest natural wines. We grabbed lunch at the <meta charset="utf-8"><a href="https://troikavalle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Troika</a> food truck outside, and soaked up the dreamy hillside views of the vineyards. Afterwards we headed for <a href="https://casasvv.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Casas VV</a> to check into our colorful, pink room. We made reservations for <a href="https://www.restaurantelunario.com/menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lunario</a> for dinner, and did the 4-course meal with a wine pairing. We were so stuffed and so happy with our first dinner. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day 2:</strong></h3>

<p>We woke up at our hotel and decided to hop in the pool for a bit before starting the day. Once we got our fill of sunshine we headed to <meta charset="utf-8"><a href="http://fincalacarrodilla.mx/en/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Finca La Carrodilla</a> for a wine tasting. Down a dreamy dirt road surrounded by vines, we found the winery surrounded by lush gardens. You walk up a stairway to the wine tasting balcony that is surrounded by views. We got the cheese plate along with the wine tasting and loved all of the wines we had there. For dinner, we had reservations at <meta charset="utf-8"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/faunarestaurante/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fauna</a> &#8212; a dreamy restaurant perched on top of a hill with a mile-long communal table strewn across the entire restaurant. Everything was super fresh and tasty. We had the pork belly, broccoli, aguachille, and two of the best desserts I&#8217;ve had. We loved watching bartender do tricks and pour drinks from a few feet higher than the glass. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-27.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27464" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-27.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-27.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-27.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day 3:</strong></h3>

<p>We checked out of our first hotel, and headed to Das Cortez for coffee. It&#8217;s the best coffee shop in the Valle. Then we headed to the Adobe Guadalupe food truck for lunch and a wine tasting at Adobe. There&#8217;s also a stunning garden on the property. </p>

<p>We made the trek to <meta charset="utf-8"><a href="https://grupoencuentro.com.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Encuentro</a> for a wine tasting, and then checked into our next hotel, Ojo Azul, and then got ready for dinner. For dinner we headed to <meta charset="utf-8"><meta charset="utf-8"><a href="http://fincaltozano.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Finca Altozano</a> and had a lovely dinner at sunset. For more ranch-style home cooking, Finca Altozano is the place to go. It&#8217;s inside of a larger space with multiple shops, wine tastings and ice cream and a coffee shop. You can enjoy the endless views or even see their farm animals on the way out. They have huge wine barrels you can walk up to and sit to take in the views with a glass from <a href="https://casamagoni.com/">Casa Magoni</a>. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-18.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - " class="wp-image-27456" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-18.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-18.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-18.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day 4:</strong></h3>

<p>On our last full day we grabbed breakfast at the hotel, and then lounged by the pool for the afternoon. Most of the Valle is closed on Monday-Wednesdays, so we had planned this to be our full relaxation day. Once we were all blissed out by the pool, we were ready for some food. Our dinner reservation for <meta charset="utf-8"><a href="https://primitivorestaurante.com/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Primitivo Restaurante</a> couldn&#8217;t come soon enough. We caught the glowing sunset among the <meta charset="utf-8">ancient 300-year-old oak tree. They focus on using the whole animal, so the menu is a bit of a surprise where you choose your animal for the night from the options, and then they give you multiple courses of different parts of the animal cooked right there on the fire outdoors. We chose res, and had some of the tastiest beef dishes. The music, the ambiance, and the food were all perfection. It was a ton of food, and I&#8217;d recommend eating light during the day to save room. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1067" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-05.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&#038;ssl=1" alt=" Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - Primitivo" class="wp-image-27435" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-05.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-05.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-05.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day 5:</strong></h3>

<p>On our way out we grabbed breakfast at <meta charset="utf-8"><meta charset="utf-8"><a href="http://fincaltozano.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Finca Altozano</a> before heading to the border. Since it&#8217;s next door, we stopped by Das Cortez for a coffee and enjoyed the morning view. We wanted a good amount of time to make it through the border crossing, so we left after we finished lunch and talked about how we can&#8217;t wait to come back for most of the car ride. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-30.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-27463" title="Valle de Guadalupe Travel Guide - Finca Altozano" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-30.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-30.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Valle-de-Guadalupe-Travel-Guide-30.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

They have things going on all day long, and there are so many things to do to fill your time! Sharing a few of my favorites here with you so that you can plan out your time on board. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Treat Yourself At The Spa</h4>

<p>It&#8217;s safe to say that the one thing you won&#8217;t want to miss is the spa treatment. After exploring all day it was the perfect break we needed before cruising home. We got the couples massage, which was amazing. They also have massages at The Sanctuary where you&#8217;ll have a view of the ocean. Do yourself a favor and book a massage as soon as you get on board&#8211;they fill up fast!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1065" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-29.jpg?resize=800%2C1065&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24278" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-29.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-29.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-29.jpg?resize=768%2C1022&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Eat Unlimited Ice Cream</h4>

<p>My two favorite words are soft serve, and the cruise has UNLIMITED ice cream. You&#8217;ll def want to get on that! P.S. there&#8217;s also a gelato shop on board for all of your frozen necessities.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1067" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-26-1.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24287" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-26-1.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-26-1.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-26-1.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Take a Yoga Class on the Deck</h4>

<p>I&#8217;m all for starting your day with a good fitness class, and they have Zumba, yoga and tai chi on board so you can get yourself in the zone to relax and enjoy your time!</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Bask In The Sun On The Balcony</h4>

<p>The best thing about being at sea is the fact that you&#8217;re surrounded by the sun at all times. You&#8217;ve got to take advantage of that, and bask in the sun all afternoon! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-30-1.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24282" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-30-1.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-30-1.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-30-1.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Watch A Movie Under The Stars</h4>

<p>Does it get any better than watching a movie under the stars? <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.princess.com/" target="_blank">Princess Cruises</a> have nightly movies you can watch around the pool. Even better? You can chill in the hot tub while you watch!</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Head to the Sanctuary</h4>

<p>Did you know there is an adults only retreat on board? Yeah, you&#8217;ll want to chill here and get an open-air massage in your own private cabana. Be sure to book your spot when you arrive, because you won&#8217;t want to miss this. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=800%2C800&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24283" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=180%2C180&amp;ssl=1 180w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=600%2C600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-33.jpg?resize=500%2C500&amp;ssl=1 500w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1052" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-27.jpg?resize=800%2C1052&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10230" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-27.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-27.jpg?resize=600%2C789&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-27.jpg?resize=768%2C1010&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Relax In The Hot Tub</h4>

<p>There aren&#8217;t enough times in life that we can actually just chill, soak in a hot tub and enjoy the view. Take advantage of it while you&#8217;re on board, you&#8217;ll thank me later.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-34.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24298" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-34.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-34.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-34.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Eat Breakfast On the Balcony / In Bed</h4>

<p>Every morning we would have breakfast delivered to our room, and it was a game changer! You can use the MedallionClass app to choose your breakfast, and have it delivered right to your room. Eating on the balcony with this dreamy view is like a dream.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-16.jpg?resize=800%2C1000&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10228" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-16.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-16.jpg?resize=600%2C750&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-16.jpg?resize=768%2C960&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Hit the Gym</h4>

<p>I get it, you&#8217;re on vacation and want to just chill. BUT I love to start the day off with a workout, especially when the gym is a few steps from my bedroom and the view from the treadmill is of the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. Need I say more?</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Have Afternoon Tea</h4>

<p>I became obsessed with high tea when I went to London last year, and <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.princess.com/" target="_blank">Princess Cruises</a> has afternoon tea on board each day with the cutest pastries and sandwiches. Safe to safe, we indulged in tea multiple times on board.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="1067" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-28.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-24281" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-28.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-28.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/erika-carlock-princess-cruises-blog-28.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>Hope these give you some ideas of things to do on board <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.princess.com/" target="_blank">Princess Cruises</a>! Trust me, you won&#8217;t be bored once on board (hehe) with all of these things to do! xoxo Erika</p>

<p>Last month I went to Mexico City and fell in love with this colorful place! I had no idea what&nbsp;a hidden gem it is, and that it&#8217;s easily one of the most affordable international trips you can take from the states. Plus, the flight from LA is as quick as a flight to Chicago. Low-cost and quick? Win, win.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5594" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/FullSizeRender-6.jpg?resize=900%2C1101&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="900" height="1101" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/FullSizeRender-6.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/FullSizeRender-6.jpg?resize=600%2C734&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/FullSizeRender-6.jpg?resize=800%2C979&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p><span id="more-5476"></span></p>
<p><strong>DAY 1</strong></p>
<p>We stayed at an <a href="http://www.airbnb.com/c/ecarlock" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Airbnb</a> in the <em><strong>Roma Norte</strong></em> neighborhood and LOVED it. It&#8217;s central to a ton of great restaurants and shops, I&#8217;d 100% &nbsp;recommend you stay there when visiting! We got in at sunset, walked around the neighborhood and grabbed dinner at <a href="http://www.fondafina.com.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Fonda Fina</a>. All of the food and cocktails were top-notch.<br />
<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5576" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/fonda-finda-1.jpg?resize=800%2C983&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="800" height="983" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/fonda-finda-1.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/fonda-finda-1.jpg?resize=600%2C737&amp;ssl=1 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p><strong>DAY 2</strong></p>
<p>Frida Kahlo has always been one of my favorite artists, so I was excited to be in the city she lived in. We made a trip to her <a href="http://www.museofridakahlo.org.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">blue house </a>and it was so peaceful. We&nbsp;sat in&nbsp;the courtyard in the center of the house and talked for a bit surrounded by cobalt blue walls and felt like we were in a jungle. It&#8217;s hard to believe this place is in the middle of the city!<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5602" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8623.jpg?resize=900%2C1052&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="900" height="1052" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8623.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8623.jpg?resize=600%2C701&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8623.jpg?resize=800%2C935&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>

<p>Right after we left Frida Kahlo&#8217;s house, we went to her husband&#8217;s studio (<a href="http://www.estudiodiegorivera.bellasartes.gob.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Museo Estudio Diego Rivera</a>) and became obsessed with this cactus fence around the place. SO cool!</p>

<p>For dinner we headed back to Roma Norte and got pizza and drinks at the <a href="http://gingin.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gin Gin Room</a>. All of the cocktails on their menu are made with gin, we loved all of the drinks.</p>

<p><strong>DAY 3</strong></p>
<p>We started the morning off with churros at <a href="http://elmoro.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Churrería El Moro</a>&nbsp;. Love this tile! We got the churros and chocolate and they were delicious. There are a few locations across the city so you can always get your churro fix.</p>

<p>My favorite things about Mexico City were the beautiful colors everything and the vintage bugs you spot at every turn! We took Uber&#8217;s everywhere we went, and they were really&nbsp;affordable and we were told more reliable than taxis (check out&nbsp;&nbsp;the PINK taxis down here&#8230;).</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5486" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/mexico-city-travel-guide-09.jpg?resize=900%2C1095&#038;ssl=1" alt="mexico city travel guide | erika carlock" width="900" height="1095" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/mexico-city-travel-guide-09.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/mexico-city-travel-guide-09.jpg?resize=600%2C730&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/mexico-city-travel-guide-09.jpg?resize=800%2C973&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5607" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8503.jpg?resize=900%2C1200&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="900" height="1200" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8503.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8503.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8503.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>We grabbed mezcal margaritas and appetizers at <a href="http://www.contramar.com.mx/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Contramar</a>&nbsp;(love that ceiling!) and then wandered around the Roma Norte neighborhood and checked out this amazing bookstore and cafe <a href="https://pendulo.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Cafebrería El Péndulo Roma</a>. Look at all of those books!</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-5590" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8003.jpg?resize=900%2C1200&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="900" height="1200" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8003.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8003.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_8003.jpg?resize=800%2C1067&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5609" src="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_1296.jpg?resize=900%2C1158&#038;ssl=1" alt="Mexico City Travel Guide | www.erikacarlock.com" width="900" height="1158" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_1296.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_1296.jpg?resize=600%2C772&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/erikacarlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/IMG_1296.jpg?resize=800%2C1029&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>

<p><strong>DAY 4</strong></p>
<p>One of the main reasons I wanted to go to Mexico City was to finally see&nbsp;Luis Barragán&#8217;s architecture in person. It did not disappoint! We went to <a href="http://www.casaluisbarragan.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">La&nbsp;Casa Luis Barragán</a> and <a href="http://www.casaluisbarragan.org/visitas2.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Casa Gilardi</a>, they were both a dream. Be sure to book them in advance as they tend to sell out.</p>

<p>I loved how&nbsp;Barragán painted with light. &nbsp;Every single details was designed intentionally, even down to the way a lamp would reflect the light along the wall. Everything looked so amazing&#8230; talk about a color lovers dream.</p>
