I’m having a peach and olive moment in my bedroom right now, and thought I’d share my linen bedding details. I’m a little obsessed with linen bedding, and I’ve had quite a few different linen bedding sets and colors from neutral to bold and colorful. Right now I have this linen olive green toned duvet from Quince in the color ‘Willowleaf‘. I’m obsessed with this color! I’ve been switching up the colors, and I just swapped out the sheets for one of my favorites — this peachy pink tone ‘Hazelnut’ from Bed Threads. I love this little color combo.

My apartment has been my oasis for so many years! It’s seen so many different looks over the last decade, and I’ve been making lots of tweaks to it in the past year. I thought I’d share the space as of late because I am really loving it lately and being an absolute homebody these days.

My Bedroom

The ultimate chill space. I love to keep the bedroom minimal and focused on relaxing. The bed is the coziest space to lay down and read a book. Right now I’ve got these lovely rust-colored linen sheets from Bed Threads and they are an absolute dream.

The Living Room

My favorite space of the house is definitely the living room. I pretty much spend all of my time here! Between this cozy sofa and the sunshine that beams through the windows, this plant-filled place is my favorite place to be.

The Dining Space

This tiny little dining nook is one of my fave spots to have my morning coffee, work from my laptop, and, of course, eat dinner.

The Garden

One of the highlights of my space is this little yard! I spend so much time here in the summer, and adore this little sunny space. I’ve been slowly swapping out the plants lately and it’s a work in progress.

The Office

This space is almost always “under construction”, so stay tuned for a full tour. I love this space because it’s the perfect dual-purpose room. It has storage, a desk space to work at, and a little pull out bed for when we have guests over. I love to work in this room and escape.

Things have been slowly changing here at Coyote Casa Blanca and I thought I’d give an updated bedroom tour. The last time I did a bedroom tour things looked very different and I was basically just excited to not be sleeping on a mattress on the floor anymore at that point. Hah! Things are looking much more put together now and I’m excited to share the progress. The room is feeling so peaceful and calming and perfectly fits the feeling I dream of when I head to the desert.

A few months ago I did these DIY Roman clay walls. This just might be my favorite DIY so far! The color is so rich and vibrant and really makes the room pop. After this wall refresh it only seemed right to add some fresh bedding to the space. I’m a big fan of linen bedding and I got the loveliest linen bedding from April Notes. I chose the sunset rose linen sheet set and beige linen duvet set and I love how they contrast against the wall. The color looks perfect and they feel so luxurious. Isn’t it so dreamy? Summer is in full swing and I thought I’d share my summer yard refresh where we’ve been spending each evening. Our cowboy pool is my favorite place to be all summer and we just added some new furniture to the space so it just got even better. Last year I filled out the space along the fence with lots of native cacti and local plants and they’re slowly but surely getting bigger. I added these string lights and it makes the space glow in the evening light.

Ever since I finished the DIY roman clay walls in the bathroom I’ve been wanting to play around with another roman clay wall at Coyote Casa Blanca. This time I wanted to be a bit more bold and go for a fun color with an accent wall. I ended up doing a deep Moroccan-inspired pink accent wall in the bedroom and I’m loving how it turned out. The texture adds so much dimension to the space and really makes the bed pop. Here’s a quick look at the process.

To get that beautiful Roman plaster look I mixed a bucket of joint compound here and a gallon of eggshell paint and primer in the color Shiny Kettle by Behr. I knew from skim coating the rooms in the house that I wanted a pancake-like consistency for the joint compound. So I filled a bucket with roughly 2/3 parts of joint compound blended with water to the right consistency, and then poured 1/3 parts of the paint color to it then blended with my mixer on my drill. I’d highly recommend you get a giant bucket and mix the paint and joint compound entirely for your project so that you get a consistent color. Mixing extra later can be really inconsistent!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

I followed a pretty simple recipe: 2/3 parts joint compound to 1/3 part paint. Mix it well with a drill paint mixer and apply to wall or surface with a scraper or palette knife.

Ingredients:

• paint color of your choice (I used ‘Shiny Kettle’ by Behr in eggshell)
• joint compound + water
• joint knife
• dropcloth
• bucket or mixing bowl (preferably with measurement lines)
• drill mud mixer attachment
• protective gear (gloves, mask, goggles)

Step 1: Combine the ingredients. Start by mixing together the joint compound and water to a smooth pancake-like finish. Use a drill mud mixer attachment to blend.

Step 2: Slowly 1/3 parts paint until the mixture has the consistency of thick pancake batter.

Step 3: Mix thoroughly to ensure that all of the mix is fully blended without clumps or bubbles.

Step 4: Apply the clay using a joint knife to spread the clay onto the surface you wish to cover. Smooth and shape it with varying strokes.

Step 5: Let it dry overnight. Once dry you can lightly sand it. If you want to can seal it you can buy sealant here.

Things are coming together at Coyote Casa Blanca and I just got the cutest new dining table from Homary for my dining nook. I’ve been on the hunt for a fluted, light wood dining table and when I found this table I was so excited. I love the round look and fluted details on the table and it’s perfect seating for this little dining nook. It really brought the space together. Of course I had to celebrate the nook having a proper table with a yummy breakfast spread from the local bakery. Croissants? Check. Coffee? Check. Fresh fruit? Check.

Fall is my favorite time to get cozy in my living room and binge watch Gilmore Girls for the zillionth time. I’ve been making subtle fall updates to my living room, and it feels extra inviting lately. My favorite way to decorate for fall is the make the space feel moody and warm. I’ve been filling the space with candles, mood lighting, and lots of lots of textures. I added this rust checkerboard shag rug a few months ago and I love how it brings the space together. Currently the color palette is full of lots of fall tones like rust, orange, and deep greens.

I just added this stunning still-life I thrifted to my bookshelf, and added this vintage nude I thrifted as well. I am loving vintage paintings lately and these are a few favorite finds.

It’s been a minute since I documented my bedroom, and since updating my bedroom is kind of a never-ending project I thought I’d post the current space. It feels so cozy and full of sunshine in there right now. I’m linking everything currently in the space here!

Normally it’s a before and after, but what about a before and during? I had a busy week working on the desert house, and I’m so excited to share the progress from the last few week. After putting together a bunch of new furniture you can see on my Instagram here, we finished skim coating, sanding, and painting the walls and they look so fresh and smooth. Honestly it’s amazing what a difference it makes! Seeing the progress makes it all worth it and I was about to give up more than once, hah!

THE PROCESS

Before we started working on the living room it had this dingy beige tile and super textured walls. So rather than dig out all of the tile we opted to paint it white with Rust-Oleum tile paint, and to skim coat the walls with joint compound for a smoother texture. I’ve always dreamed of having a bright white room that feels like a giant lightbox, so I figured we would lean into what we have and go for it! And, let’s be honest, ripping out tile does not sound fun right now when we have the whole rest of the house to work on! For the wall paint we went with Behr’s Polar Bear for a bright white tone. I love how it looks when the light hits it in the morning! The theme of the space is to use lots of materials from nature — jute, rattan, bamboo, cane — so we added this cane cabinet, jute poufs, and this bamboo slingback lounge chair (which will eventually go outside probably). For the sofa I’m thinking we will do a leather to contrast with the bright white floors, and a jute rug to go underneath.

Next steps are to replace the front door, add a rug, swap out the lighting, get the sofa and add some finishing touches with decor! Can’t wait to share the next update–it’s gonna be a good one!
