Where To Stay In Joshua Tree: Shack Attack

Last month we stayed in the cutest Joshua Tree AirBnb called Shack Attack. I obviously had to share all of the details of this cute getaway.

First of all, it was out in the middle of NOWHERE, which made it the perfect desert escape. And by middle of nowhere, I mean we had to drive FOR MILES down a bumpy dirt road just to get there. But once we got there, it was SO WORTH IT! As soon as we arrived, it felt like time had stopped–like we had just hit an instant relax button.

We jumped back and forth between lounging on the bed and soaking in the outdoor tub to take in the views. They had a record player in the space, so we listened to records and relaxed the whole time. Something about the place is very calming, and as soon as we dropped our bags we were relaxed. I started drawing, and Joe started reading and before we knew it we didn’t even think about the time, our cell phones, or checking our email.

The enclosed patio area was so nice. I love being in the desert, but don’t exactly want to worry about desert wildlife so it was nice to hang out there and eat dinner.

Nothing compares to those desert sunsets! We were so in awe of the sunset, that we set a 5 AM alarm to catch the sunrise too (and I am not a morning person, haha!). We made coffee and soaked in the tub for sunrise. It was a total dream.

One of the things that is so cool about this place is how everything is handmade and unique. You can see it in the details how handcrafted each and every decoration is. Wood plank art, homemade side tables, the platforms for every plant pot–I loved seeing all of the special details.

At sunset we both squeezed into the tub together, laughed and drank wine and had such a nice time. I want to repeat this trip every year!
