Tomato Girl Trend
You know I love a good red dress, and I’m seeing the tomato girl trend pop up all over. This ‘la dolce vita’ look is basically all of my favorite things in fashion so I had to share some inspiration for the look. It’s all about embracing the carefree summer look. Think fiery red dresses, naturally flushed skin, basket bags, salt-sprayed hair, and dark statement sunglasses. Basically, imagine a European summer filled with pasta, local markets and and sunshine that’s what being a “tomato girl” is all about.
“Tomato girl” embodies the feeling of an Italian summer. Feminine floral dresses, basket bags you could fit all of your farmers’ market shopping into, a red lipstick, and flowy romantic patterns. It exudes la dolce vita and takes inspiration from vintage photos of traveling to the Italian rivieria in the 60’s and 70’s. Think summer on the Mediterranean reading a book in a garden.
To get this laid-back summer look light and breezy materials just make sense. Think puff sleeves, linen shirts, romantic midi skirts and maxi dresses. Ruffles, lace and crochet are also key. All of these fabrics add a certain je ne sais quoi to the look.
